Our lawyers advise many Christian churches of different denominations and their related organisations, including schools, on a range of matters applicable to non-profit and charitable organisations. We are familiar with the structures of most Christian denominations, but have had particular experience with Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian and Uniting churches.
Some feedback from a church client:
"... words cannot begin to express how grateful we are for all your help and expert guidance over recent years. We would not have jumped those final hurdles without it! Thank you also for always being so good to us. Can I say that your generosity of service to us has not gone unnoticed. I know your preference has always been that our money is spent on ministry activities instead of professional fees."
We help Anglican parishes on general parish issues and with the preparation of ordinances for the sale, mortgage and lease of church trust property.
We advise many churches on their relationship with pre-schools using their sites.
A Parish which is planning to enter into a building contract needs to provide the Anglican Church Property Trust with a certificate from a lawyer that the terms of the building contract are acceptable.
We provide the appropriate certificates. However, parishes are reminded that they should obtain advice on the form of the building contract at an early stage of the project. Parishes who leave the certificate until the last minute often find that the project is delayed while amendments to the contract are negotiated.
