Help for Retirement Village residents

Moving into a retirement village can be a worrying experience.

When you start looking at a village, the operator is required to give you the plans of the village and the unit, the financial statements and accounts for the village, the form of the retirement village contract that you would be required to enter into, the village rules, a disclosure statement and, in certain cases, the development consent for the village. That will keep you occupied for a little while.

We have helped clients for many years as they undertake this significant exercise, and we know the things to look for to make the change as easy as possible for you.

Some Great Feedback from Retirement Village Residents

Emil Ford Lawyers have been privileged to assist residents of:

  • Glenaeon Village at Belrose; and
  • Lutanda Manor at Pennant Hills

in signing new village contracts as part of the Lend Lease contract standardisation project.

Despite recent negative publicity regarding resident dissatisfaction with retirement village living, the responses that we received from residents in the villages were:

“Best thing I ever did”,

“We should have done it sooner”,

“I love living here”.

We did not receive one negative response from any resident.!
